We hope you will join us for another great summer of swimming!  For many years, Swan Lake Swim Club has sponsored a swim team in the Central Maryland Swim League (CMSL).  The CMSL provides competitive swimming programs for children of member summer swim clubs to promote love for the sport, advance aquatic skills, teamwork, and principles of good sportsmanship.

Meet Our Coach
We are excited to welcome our new Stingrays Head Coach, Brian Mahoney!  Coach Brian has previous experience as the head coach of the Whetstone Whales in the Montgomery County Swim League and as an age group coach for the Micronesian National Swim Team.   During the school year, Brian is a middle school math teacher.  He enjoys working with experienced swimmers to improve skills and drop time, helping new swimmers to feel comfortable in the water and getting the whole tam to work hard and have a good time.  He is passionate about the sport of swimming and loves building team spirit.  In his spare time, Coach Brian likes to cook, garden and spend time with his nephews.

Parent Meeting (Attendance Encouraged)
On Saturday, June 1, 2019 at 1 pm, we will host our first parent meeting of the season.  The meeting will begin at 1 pm, followed by swim suit fittings at Cy's starting at 2 pm.   We will end with a fun potluck, please bring a dish to share.

Swim Team Eligibility

All children ages 5 to 17 years of age (18 if you just graduated from high school) who are members of Swan Lake are eligible to join.  We have adjusted the prerequisites for joining swim team for the 2019 season.  This change was necessary to support safe and effective practices and a positive swim team season for all children involved.  Key changes are as follows:

Swimmers should be able to swim 20 yards (the distance in the shallow end) unassisted.  Similar to last year, swimmers will be evaluated during the first practices so that we understand current skill level. Swimmers are also required to participate in two swim meets, one home and one away.

We believe that these adjustments will help to ensure that we have adequate staffing, pool space and time for skill development.  For swimmers that may not be ready for swim team, Swan Lake will continue to have swim lessons.  Swim lessons will be managed by Coach Brian to ensure continuity as emerging swimmers transition from lessons to the team.  If you have any questions about this change, please contact the swim team mailbox.

Swim Practice
For the 2019 season, the swim team will start practice on Tuesday 6/4 from 6:00 pm to 7:30 pm. Evening practices every are on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 6:00 pm to 7:30 pm.  Morning practices start on Tuesday, June 18, 2019. Please Note: We intend to publish final practice times once we get total volume of swimmers. This will help us to maximize pool time. Information below adopts 2017 policy and may change slightly.

Morning practices are held on Tuesdays through Fridays. Your swimmer will NOT swim the entire practice time. To make the practices more effective, practice is generally divided between 12 years and older and 11 years and younger. We intend to publish final times once we have a better sense of volume by age group.

Swimmers 12 years and older: Tues - Thurs.: 8:00 am to 9:15 am.
Swimmers 11 years and younger: Tues - Thurs.: 9:15 to 10:15 am.

On Fridays we have FUN Fridays and the whole team practices, plays games and enjoys snacks together.
